Privacy Policy
Last updated August 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Bi Bible (“we”, “our”, or “us”) handles information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information we collect
The app requires no account and, by default, collects no personally identifiable information — no name, email, phone number, or location. The one exception is the optional Google Drive backup: if you choose to sign in with Google (see section 5), we receive your Google account’s name, email address, and user ID, used solely to enable that backup. We do not otherwise collect or store personal information, we never sell or share it, and we never use it for advertising or tracking.
2. Device and app data
We may store limited data locally on your device to improve functionality:
- Downloaded Bible content for offline reading
- App preferences (selected Bible version, theme settings)
This data remains on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
3. Bible content and downloads
The app downloads content from our asset host to provide access to different Bible versions and optional features. This includes Bible text (delivered as ZIP files) and, if you enable AI-powered search, an offline search model bundle (see below).
- Used only within the app
- Stored in app-private storage
- Not linked to personal identity
- No tracking of individual downloads
4. AI-powered search
The app offers an optional AI-powered search feature that finds verses by meaning rather than exact keywords. This feature is off by default and only becomes active if you enable it.
When enabled, the app downloads a one-time search bundle (an on-device model and precomputed verse data, roughly 35 MB) from our asset host. After that:
- All searching runs entirely on your device
- Your search queries are never sent to us or any third party
- The bundle is stored in app-private storage, like other downloads
- You can disable the feature at any time in the app settings
Voice input
AI-powered search includes an optional voice input option that lets you speak a search instead of typing it. Speech is converted to text using your device’s built-in speech recognition, not our servers — we never receive your voice audio.
- By default the app requests on-device recognition, so your speech stays on the device
- If your device cannot recognize speech offline, the app asks for your permission before using its operating system’s speech service (for example, Google or Apple), which may process the audio to transcribe it
- This cloud option is off by default; you choose whether to allow it, and can turn it off again in the app settings
- When it is used, that processing is governed by your device provider’s privacy policy
5. Optional Google Drive backup
The app offers an optional backup feature that lets you save your preferences and app data to your own Google Drive. This feature is entirely optional and only used if you choose to sign in.
- When you sign in, we receive your Google account name, email address, and user ID to identify your account for backup
- We use the restricted Drive app-data scope, so the app can access only its own hidden backup file — it cannot see or access any of your other Google Drive files
- Backups are stored in your personal Google account, not on our servers
- Backed-up data may include app preferences, downloaded-version selections, and feature settings such as AI search
- Your use of Google Drive is also governed by Google’s privacy policy
Bi Bible’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Deleting your data
You can delete your data at any time:
- Sign out in the app and uninstall it to remove data stored on your device
- Revoke the app’s access and delete its backup in your Google Account settings (myaccount.google.com → Data & privacy → Third-party apps & services)
We store no personal data on our own servers, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side.
6. Third-party services
We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking services. Aside from the optional Google Drive backup described above, we do not integrate third-party services that collect your data. If this changes, this policy will be updated.
7. Data sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share user data with third parties.
8. Children’s privacy
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If discovered, we will delete it immediately.
9. Security
We use reasonable measures to ensure locally stored data remains protected within the app environment.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Updates will be reflected in the app or store listing.
